The one thing life will always give you is “curve balls”. Stress is something we all have to deal with at some time in our live, because life just is not always smooth sailing. Stress is created by the unknown.
So why does the unknown create so much pressure?
When babies are born everything is unknown and they have zero control over what happens to them. Then they start walking, but before they can walk properly they fall several times a day, often bruising themselves and then just get up and do it again. They also start talking but this also takes several years to perfect and many mistakes are made before they can have a proper conversation. The mistakes or falls however never stop them! They just continue doing it over and over and over again despite getting hurt and not knowing the outcome.
Then somewhere along the line we are taught by society that making mistakes is a bad thing and perfection is what we should strive for. The media bombards us with images of the perfect bodies with all the curves in the right places. We are also sold on the story that in order to be successful you should have a shiny car (the latest edition of course), the latest phone, a big well designed house, the perfect well-disciplined family etc. So we start striving for these things and in many cases we don’t quite make it, but we are so scared of what others will think if we “don’t make it”, that we start faking it and so we put ourselves under tremendous pressure to keep up with the Joneses.
For those who “make it” a very crude reality awaits. When they eventually “make it”, they realise that there are others who have “made it even more” and so the cycle stars over again.
All this craziness to impress everyone around us until one day we are struck with wisdom and realise that everybody makes mistakes, nobody is perfect, everybody has weaknesses, everybody stresses, everybody needs a shoulder to lean on from time to time! Everybody deals with the unknown every day, because nobody knows when their time on earth will come to an end!
So uncertainty is very common and not knowing is very common, it is a part of everyday living for every single person alive!
We don’t need certainty in life, in fact the very essence of life could be found in uncertainty. When you jump out of a plane and free fall with no real guarantee that the parachute will open when you pull the string, in that moment, as you smell the air, take in the view, feel the wind, you feel real life pumping through your veins and flowing to your sole, sweet serenity!
Don’t put yourself under pressure by trying to impress everyone around you.
When in life you find yourself under extreme pressure, embrace it! Take in every detail you can, find peace in the situation, feel the life pumping through your veins, feel the wind blowing in your face and have the faith to know that when you pull the string the parachute will open and you will land. Not always softly, you might break a leg or an arm or not land on the spot you intended, but even that is okay as this will give you experience for the next time you jump!
NEVER STOP JUMPING!
